Shopping District/Retail
Celebration's old fashioned, main-street style is an enticing location that enables retailers to attract both residents and tourists. In addition to the well-known names of AMC and SunTrust Bank, there are many specialty and regional merchants and restauranteurs in Celebration, including Barnie's Coffee & Tea, Café D'Antonio, Columbia Restaurant, Gooding's, Market Street Gallery, Herman's Ice Cream Shoppe, Hopskotch, Soft As A Grape, Village Mercantile, White's Gifts and a variety of other cafés, galleries and shops. The presence of the hotel as well as numerous community events staged downtown benefit retailers by drawing tourists to the area.
School System
The largest educational forum in the community is the public Celebration School, a part of the Osceola County School District. At the Celebration School more than 1,000 students from grades K-8 participate in some of the country's most advanced educational practices within technologically enhanced facilities. A professional development consortium composed of Stetson University, Auburn University and the University of Central Florida, initially developed the curriculum and continues to work with the faculty to incorporate "best practices" into the school's learning environment. Celebration is such a popular family-oriented community that a new, separate public high school was opened in August 2003 to accommodate Celebration's growing population.
In September 2001, Stetson University opened its new $7.2 million graduate studies center at Celebration. The 36,000-square-foot Stetson University Center is located on 1.1 acres across from the K-8 Celebration School. The Stetson University Center offers master's degree programs in business administration, a Family Counseling Center and an Educational Training Center. In its second year of operation, this "not-for-profit" institution is already profitable at Celebration.
